Clean/Renewable Energy
- Not currently
- Looking to switch to sustainable energy suppliers when current energy provider agreement expires
- Note: Chelsea FC used 1887 tonnes of CO2 less last year (2018) compared to previous years
Energy Efficiency
- Building management system to control lighting, heating and air conditioning at both Stamford Bridge and Cobham, ensuring that equipment works to the optimum and is only used when required, reducing energy usage. Buildings are installed with movement sensors which automatically switch lights on/off
- At Cobham, to maintain constant temperatures, the buildings have been installed with a brown roof and brass classing. This level of insulation helps to maintain air tightness and minimise heat loss. We have also installed a system that monitors direct sunlight, which automatically operates the internal blinds to help maintain internal temperatures and minimise solar heat gains
- Timing devices have also been installed to drinks fridges to limit the amount of energy they use
- Training facility meets ‘excellent’ BREEAM standard, building energy management system in place
- LED lighting with proximity sensors managed centrally, waste heat is reutilised (heat recovery coils)
- Increased the use of LED lighting and used 10% less gas last year (2018) due to optimising the systems on site
Sustainable Transport
- Loan system if needed to allow staff to buy bicycles for their commute
- Staff encouraged to use public transport (discounted travel)

- Bicycle storage area available for supporters wishing to cycle to the stadium
- Supporters are strongly advised not to drive to Stadium.

- Working with suppliers and partners on reducing plastic waste
- Biodegradable plastic bags
Waste Management
- About to launch new waste management system that will separate waste at source and minimise general waste that will be sent to the waste to energy plant – put on hold due to pandemic, will relaunch when fans return
- 100% of waste is recycled at Stamford Bridge and Cobham (2010)
- About to launch new waste management system that will separate waste at source and minimise general waste that will be sent to the waste to energy plant
